Wow!!! What an awesome day of fishing in St. Augustine!... Today I had my good friends Austin and Mike out for an afternoon of "flood" tide fishing. Every year around this time we get higher than normal tides that allow our redfish to get into grassy areas they usually can't access. They gorge themselves on the small crabs and shrimp that live in those areas. It makes for some really exciting sight-fishing as the fish will have their tails out of the water when their noses are buried in the mud looking for a meal. Austin and Gibby caught some really big redfish up in the grass today including a few that were oversized. The bait/rig of choice was a Slayer Inc. Penetrator weedless hook and the new Slayer Inc. SST paddle tails. Even the Captain got to get into the action as I brought out the fly rod and caught a few nice ones. Great day with some great friends!
I only have a few open dates left in September for flood tide fishing... so if you want to go let me know ASAP.
