St. Augustine Fishing Report July 10th...

Another awesome day of fishing! (I ran two trips today)... This morning I had John and Jay on the boat. We started by tossing some top-water plugs for redfish along some grass edges. We had a bunch of blow-ups and it seemed the reds just didn't want to commit to hitting the plugs... then John nails a nice 5lber on the Zara Spook top-water. A little while later he gets another nice upper slot red. We had a few more nice blow-ups and then decided to head off the beach to see what we could get into. We found a shrimp boat with all kinds of things swimming behind it. We instantly doubled up on two bruiser sharks. After playing with some big sharks for awhile we decided to head in and found a big school of bonitas crashing some bait. We caught a couple on a Sebile Magic Swimmer. Wow!.. do those things rip some drag!

This afternoon I had John, Dan, and David on the boat. We were fishing with live mud minnows for some reds when John starts the trip off with a nice couple of keeper trout. We fished a few areas with just a little action and then found a nice little school of mid to upper slot reds that wanted to play. We ended up catching about a half a dozen nice slot reds in about a foot of water. What a blast it is to see those reds ripping through the shallow water like a out of control torpedo. I always have a great time with John, Dan, and their buddies. It's just a bonus when the fishing is that good. Good times guys!
